PETERHOF (PETRODVORETS): ORANGERY FOUNTAIN
This fountain, which graces the Palace Orangery, is distinguished by a central gilded triton wrestling with a tenacious sea monster. The significance of this sculptural group exactly parallels that of the celebrated "Samson" dominating the Great Cascade. The fountain is attributed to architects T. Usov and J. F. Braunstein, while the burly triton is the work of sculptor C. Rossi.
