MOSCOW, RED SQUARE: CATHEDRAL OF THE KAZAN ICON OF THE MOTHER OF GOD
This beautiful cathedral, which dates from the early Romanov period in the first half of the seventeenth century, was demolished as a consequence of the Revolution of 1917. With the end of the Soviet era, however, it is one of many churches to have been completely restored. In its present form it has graced Red Square since 1995.
