MOSCOW, KREMLIN (VIRTUAL OUTDOOR TOUR): CHURCH OF THE VIRGIN GOWN'S DEPOSITION

Moscow, Kremlin (Virtual Outdoor Tour): Church of the Virgin Gown's Deposition

Proceed just west of the Cathedral of the Dormition or Assumption to the Church of the Virgin Gown's Deposition, erected by Pskovian masters in the late fifteenth century. As the domestic chapel of metropolitans and patriarchs, it communicated with the Patriarch's Palace by means of a stairway.

Behind this church can be seen the Terem Palace (seventeenth century) and the striking cluster of eleven gold, ceramic, and tile domes of the Church of the Saviour, reserved for the use of the tsar's family.
